IB offers four programmes, they are PYP, MYP, DP, and CP. The difficulty level of learning may increase with each program. More than 5,000 IB World Schools (IBWS) are currently functioning. The IB board aims to create a global school community to develop good student personalities. The schools that Join IB acquire great reputations and are linked to excellence. The international reach of IB helps schools connect to address common challenges and share common benefits. The IB curriculum was adopted in India in 1976 and currently, 140+ schools follow the IB curriculum. Since globalization is the need of the hour, an international mode of education is of great value.
IB values creativity and has a holistic view of education. It also values experiment-based learning, pushing the students to engage in decision-making. The global outlook attained through international issues helps create social sensitivity and complete awareness about world issues. The IB experience builds confidence and encourages independence. Critical thinking is developed through the curriculum as it helps students in the innovative generation of ideas and development of perspectives.
IB’s MYP offers the students 8 subject groups. The students therefore have a lot of choices. The students aged 11-16 can enroll for MYP. Each subject is to be taught for at least 50 hours. In the final 2 years, the student has the liberty to select any 6 subject groups out of the 8 offered. The subject groups include language acquisition, language, and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, design, and physical education. The syllabus is designed to balance theoretical knowledge with practical skills acquisition.
