About CBSE Board Class 10
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national educational board in India that was formed in 1929 with the aim of inter-state integration of secondary education. The board functions under the regulation of the Government of India. Thousands of Indian schools and hundreds of foreign ones are affiliated with CBSE. The schools under this board follow the NCERT curriculum. All state government schools in Delhi follow the CBSE curriculum. CBSE exams for 10 th and 12 th are typically held in March while results are announced in May.
CBSE students are offered subjects in multiple foreign and Indian languages which celebrates language diversity. Though considered vast at the secondary level, the CBSE syllabus helps students easily enter higher education. Maths, Science, Social Studies, Language, and Art are all part of the syllabus that gives students a holistic learning experience. The curriculum promotes the development of good communication skills, encourages collaboration, and creates an environment that supports the blooming of creativity.
In grade 10, students have to appear for a board exam which holds a lot of importance, especially in the Indian context. The student has to attempt written papers that carry 80 marks, for core subjects, and the rest of the marks are allotted to internal assessment. To score well, the student must therefore be skilled in writing papers. Internal assessment can involve lab practicals, paper pen tests, and portfolios. And for Language internals, Listening and Speaking Competencies are tested.
